Jupiter for LOUD & METAL ATTACK comment

ZIN: Hello everyone, who watches us on Creative Man site! We are Jupiter!
This time, Jupiter will perform at Finnish event "LOUD & METAL ATTACK", which gathers Finnish metal and hard-rock bands.
In the past Japanese bands, who performed there were for example Outrage, Anthem, Liv Moon and this time we - Jupiter - are honored to be Japan's representative.
When it comes to Finland I have a feeling that many cool bands are from Finland, for example my beloved Sonata Arctica and Children of Bodom. Moreover, they have also Moomins, so Finland is a country with many cool characters.
This time, on the event will appear only amazing bands, so by playing together our beloved metal and hard-rock we want to make this event great. Moreover, because we - Jupiter - wielding Japanese flag, will also appear on the stage, we would like to ask you to come see us by all means.

Zin: Hello, we’re Jupiter. I’m Zin.

Hizaki: Bonjour. I’m Hizaki, the guitarist.

Japan FM: Could you please introduce each other?

Zin: This is Jupiter’s leader, great composer and super guitarist, Hizaki. Having most amazing talents great princess.

Hizaki: Jupiter’s vocalist, Zin. Amazing voice. When we were forming the band, we searched around the whole country to find the vocalist, but he has the most beautiful voice in whole Japan.

Zin: Thank you!

Japan FM: Where do you find your inspiration?

Zin: Communication with fans. For example during LIVEs, but also on Twitter and Facebook. Communication with our fans gradually increases my motivation.

Hizaki: I learn a lot about culture and history of Europe, so during writing the lyrics, I make use of this knowledge and their stimulation.

Japan FM: Why did you choose the name “Jupiter”?

Hizaki: Earlier, Teru, Masashi, Yuki and I were in the same band Versailles, which announced hiatus and we decided to start new activities in this band. When it comes to previous band, we were using the theme of France, Versailles, because it’s a place where is Palace of Versailles and we really liked this Palace. When this time we were thinking about what should characterize us, we thought of the universe. We took the keyword “Jupiter”, because at the same time I was a little bit addicted to astrology and astronomy. At that time I learned that planet Jupiter carries the meaning of happiness, and this is also ours message – to continuously move forward – that’s why we chose this name.

Japan FM: You just finished your first European tour. Tell us about your impressions.

Zin: Well, for me, Zin, it was first overseas trip, but everyone was really full of power, so we were able to play really exciting LIVEs. Honestly, I think that I gave a lot from myself, but I received the same amount of power from you. It was amazing.

Hizaki: For me, it’s probably 5^th European tour. In the past, each year fans were coming to see lives not only for simple Visual Kei, that’s why this time what we felt was that we are able to play more in rock style. I think that we were able to play amazing rock LIVE, concerts of rock band from Japan.

Japan FM: Did any funny happening occurred during this tour?

Zin: Well, we had small problems with gear. The voltage in Japan and Europe slightly differs.

Hizaki: And we had some problems with gear, which we brought from Japan. But moreover, we lost our shoes, right?

Zin: Ah, yes, we lost shoes *laughs*

Hizaki: They ran from the car *laughs*

Zin: They just ran *laughs* But when I think of it now, it’s a positive memory.

Japan FM: Do you have any rituals before entering the stage?

Zin: Rituals before entering the stage… I, for example, drink energy drinks and try to rise the tension. I make few exercises to warm up my body and throat.

Hizaki: I, for example, play the guitar. My motivation and tension are high from the beginning of the day. I always pray before entering the stage. But what am I praying to? To God obviously!

Zin: To God! *laughs*

Japan FM: What message did you include on the album Classical Element?

Hizaki: The name of the album means four elements: fire, earth, water and wind. In ancient Europe it was believed that world was built from those four elements. Moreover we added also great existence motif – ether – the place, in which God lives. We included the message that we want, together with our fans, reach this place. And the message that we want to improve our souls.

Japan FM:  Among all of your songs, which one is your favourite and why?

Zin: Frankly speaking, each song of Jupiter is fantastic. For me, as for Jupiter’s fan, all of the songs are amazing, but since I like gothic songs, “Decadence” makes me vivid.

Hizaki: Well, “Blessing of the Future” or “Scarlet”, which are representative songs of Jupiter. But also newly released “Last Moment”, they are all songs, which only Jupiter could ever play and which represent us.

Japan FM: What do you think about the new single “Last Moment”?

Zin: As a vocalist of the band I tried to overcome my limits. Since then I never challenged myself like that, but I wanted to sing depths of Jupiter. Just like other members do it when they play, I wanted to show you deep meaning of Jupiter.

Hizaki: “Last Moment” itself is beautiful. It carries the beauty, which you won’t find anywhere else in the world. And the message, which we convey is to live cherishing every single moment and share them with others; in our case – with fans.

Japan FM: Tell us about Jupiter’s plans for the future.

Zin: Jupiter is the most beautiful rock band in the world and we are intend to make our songs recognizable by wider audience, audience around the world.

Hizaki: Speaking of shorter time, we’d like to go on big European tour. If we will get a lot of support from you, we will come. There still are countries about which we know not much, so invite us!

This world is an ultimate Visual Kei.

I think we need to focus especially on it.

Rhythm section of Versailles, who with the end of last year announced their hiatus, after inviting vocalist ZIN started their activities again as a band of great meaning – Jupiter. More violently, beautifully, dramatically… Jupiter, who may be called “the quintessence of Visual Kei”, being saviors of the scene, are already strongly stimulating it – in July with their debut single, in August with debut album, in September with first one-man LIVE and first country-wide tour, which has been started in October. “What Jupiter are?”, we asked those five men.

                In Babylonian and Greek mythology it was believed that Jupiter is the main symbol of power over the gods. In the times, when it was believed that Sun is a being reigning over the Earth, people worshipped Jupiter, the biggest planet resembling the Sun, believing that it is a being reigning over the skies.

                Lead by the strange twist of fate, united under the name of Jupiter five its representatives. Currently in their full splendor they stoically strive for taking the control of the scene, which so far only gives signs of being plunged into chaos. But what is their purpose? What exactly is this world painted by energetic and full of ideas Jupiter? We would like to find out the truth from words spoken by the five members of the band.

- In August this year, Jupiter released their first full album “Classical Element”, playing their first gigs at the same time. Then, in September your first one-man show has been successfully completed. Although you newly started your activities, you hit a very good start as a band.

ZIN: I think that probably everyone, who came to see our LIVEs feel that we’ve really been able to prepare good staging in response to their expectations. Moreover, because we saw a credible vision of the future, that we can become something even greater, now as a Jupiter, after such a great beginning, we can move toward another goals.

- Jupiter is a band, which was born because of the fate-directed meeting of the vocalist ZIN and four musicians, who already played together in one band. But I think that at the start of your activities unexpected twists also appeared. However, isn’t it already a matter of the past?

HIZAKI: No. Of course there are people, who like our previous band and they follow us in the wake of its memory. We fully understand their feelings, but we also hear conversations, in which opinions like “I don’t like Jupiter at all” appear. That’s why probably it didn’t become a matter of the past for us yet. The fact is that when it comes to these people, we would like to convince also them to the music created by us as Jupiter. In addition, we should gain new fans. There are many things, which Jupiter should do for now.

- When it comes to Jupiter, for what particular reason this band has been created? Please, introduce yourself once more.

HIZAKI: I can’t say anything about the concept (laughs). We just adopted the name of Jupiter, so we want to strive to ensure people, that our activities are bringing the image as large as the universe to mind.  And then the philosophy. I think that we want to be a band, which will convey the message to all people listening to Jupiter, that they should keep the faith for the future.

- Your focusing on those two subjects could be felt in both of your works: released very fast single “Blessing of the Future”, which premiere dates back to July and announced in August album “Clasical Element”.

HIZAKI: Now I have more opportunities than before to write lyrics myself. I think that my interests also become visible because of this. But unexpectedly, it turned out that ZIN-kun also has this kind of philosophical side.

ZIN: Indeed, it’s something very common for us two.

- If so, do you often have deep conversations?

HIZAKI: In fact, usually not at all (laughs) But if we talk about lyrics, we talk a lot.

ZIN: That’s true. I’m really happy that in the band there are people, who have the same sensitivity as I do. On the other hand, TERU-san composing often uses in songs and lyrics simple good quality, which is the contrast for us. I think that this contrast became an interesting aspect of Jupiter. Jupiter works properly represent everything, that no one else, only members of this band are able to create.

HIZAKI: When it comes to science, there’s also a theoretical element in TERU.

TERU: Or maybe it’s just bigotry (laughs)

HIZAKI: But even if at first glance it would seem that our opinions differ, if to look closely, in the end we reach the common version. It happens very often.

ZIN: Right. Methods are different, but the goal is one.

TERU: Oh really? Very possible.

- In such situation, what attitude would you take the most often, Masashi-san, Yuki-san?

MASASHI: When it comes to the lyrics, I think that I can’t write them, so I’m just watching what others have written and I often think about this or that. As for my attitude, what should it be? Surprising (laughs)?

- You might say “mysterious”.

MASASHI: Right, because I not always even get myself. I think that in this matter, from my point of view, YUKI is a much more sustainable person.

YUKI: What do you mean by that? It’s better to say that I’m more like a chameleon. I try to remember to be as calm as it’s possible. When it comes to drumming, I feel that exists the correct connection between me and messages sent by each of the members.

- So you just thought that “If we think about it carefully, we will come to an agreement”. Thus, have ever scenes of acute exchange of views between your five occurred?

HIZAKI: When it comes simply to exchange of views, it practically doesn’t happen. For example, if any of us has a question it means that surely there would be someone among the fans, who would ask the same question. Which means, that we create and play music, so as to be able to reach everyone with something, what only we are able to create, our five as Jupiter.

- It actually makes sense.

ZIN: That’s why, even if it comes to writing lyrics, we all take an active part in it before recordings. Everyone play the song keeping its words in mind, so we become naturally filled not only with sounds but also with emotions consistent with it.

- Tym razem wydaliście dwa wzory zdjęć nowego looku, prawda?

Ryoga: I oba równocześnie są głównymi wyglądami, ale te dwa wzory zostają niezwykle ożywione w MV. Jeśli chodzi przekaz, chcieliśmy przedstawić na tych zdjęciach przeciwstawionych sobie przebiegle wyglądających kolesi, kojarzących się z wojskową dyktaturą oraz walczący z byciem od nich zależnym humanizm. Gdy wybraliśmy tytuł "THE STALIN -666-", obraz agitacyjny stał się jeszcze silniejszy, a że piosenka sama w sobie również jest gwałtowna, w głowie nadawałem kształtu światu, który przekażemy myśląc, że ten album powinien być albumem "ofensywnym" (chodzi o atak, a nie obrazę ofc).

- Czy nazwa albumu wzięła się od głównej piosenki "THE STALIN"?

Ryoga: Samo słowo przyszło mi na myśl już wiele lat temu i planowałem kiedyś użyć go jako tytułu. A wszystko dlatego, że kiedy piosenka została ukończona to znaczy, kiedy zdecydowaliśmy o image'u, kiedy zdecydowaliśmy o tym, jak będziemy dalej ją kontrolować, pomyślałem, że chciałbym stworzyć jakieś odniesienie do tego, że będziemy po trochu rozprzestrzeniać naszą muzykę na świecie.

- Powiedzieliście, że "Ten album powinien stać się albumem 'ofensywnym'", ale czy tworzyliście go już od początku myśląc o takiej "ofensywnej" produkcji?

K: Koniec końców tak. W pre-produkcji, a potem podczas aranżowania wychodziły nam co raz bardziej niegrzeczne piosenki(śmiech).

Ray: Na początku było trochę więcej stonowanych brzmień. I z czasem gdy posuwaliśmy się co raz dalej z pre-produkcją, piosenki stopniowo się zmieniały i stawały agresywniejsze.

- Zatem, opowiedzcie o piosence tytułowej "THE STALIN".

K: To najtrudniejszy utwór do ukończenia. Gdy zdecydowaliśmy "Nagrajmy tą piosenkę!" przygotowanie jej w pre-produkcji zajęło nam strasznie dużo czasu, ale od etapu demowego została zmieniona 4-5 razy, ale od początku mieliśmy tylko stwierdzenie "THE STALIN" i po trochu zaczęły pojawiać się pytania "Czy to jest "THE STALIN"-owe?" czy "Jaki byłby 'THE STALIN'?" i koniec końców spróbowaliśmy znaleźć "THE STALIN"-a w wersji BORN. Ale w chwili, gdy dotarliśmy do momentu osiągnięcia „limitu”, to było jak objawienie. Dotąd praktycznie nie zdarzyło mi się jeszcze, żebym tak zmieniał prototyp jakiegoś utworu, dlatego bardzo mnie zdziwiło, jak ta piosenka uległa zmianie.

Ray: Na początku elementy digital były silniejsze. Jeśli chodzi o „THE STALIN”-owość to odrzucaliśmy wiele pomysłów i w krótkim czasie wersja tej piosenki uległa kompletnej zmianie.

K: TOMO za każdym razem, gdy dostawał co raz bardziej zmienioną wersję mówił „I do której wersji niby mam dograć perkusję?”

TOMO: Każdego dnia dostawałem inną aranżację (śmiech). Dlatego praktycznie do chwili nagrań nie miałem pojęcia co robić.

Ray: Tempo też się raczej zmieniło.

K: Nie mogłem skończyć tego utworu szybko, ponieważ naprawdę chciałem dać członkom chwilę na zastanowienie się, ale nie mogę powiedzieć, że było przyjemnie. Melodię wybrał Ryoga, ale myślę, że (przez niego) tym razem nie mieliśmy zbyt wiele czasu (na resztę).

Ryoga: Nie prawda!

K: Zrobiłbyś to samo, nie ważne ile czasu byś miał?

Ray: Przecież on jest typem, który odrabia pracę domową zadawaną na wakacje w ostatni dzień przed szkołą (śmiech)

Ryoga: Kiedy w końcu jestem zmuszony, przychodzi dreszczyk emocji.
