己龍 - 情ノ華

Lyrics & music: 酒井参輝 (Sakai Mitsuki)
Transcription & translation: Ariane
Note: I won't give any specific explanation to this song to allow you to have your own interpretation; I'll just say it's not a beautiful song about love and affection, as some assumed.

KANJI *:--☆--:*:--☆:*:--☆--:*:--☆-:

ENGLISH *:--☆--:*:--☆:*:--☆--:*:--☆-:

Your first cry, those hands seeking for something
What do you look for? You aren’t searching at all?

Chasing shadows no one else knows, a child lost in colors
You pretend “love” using all known methods, blank space burnt black

Just like it’s seen the true nature of your heart shaking in evening calm
The petals* that touched you now pushed your back

And what do you see that makes you so overjoyed?**
You’re on a mercy of the path you’ve chosen, though your voice resounds strongly
Ah, feelings well up and get out of you like a scream
Throbbing hits your veins, you didn’t get rusty yet

The sound of your noisy heart mix with the sounds of rain
If you listen carefully walking alone, you’ll hear Oitekebori***

Word you remembered well in your dreams

And what do you think you’re asking about?**
‘If we lick each other’s scars it will bring relief’, says the “flower of love” who frequently changes places
Ah, even if it hurts like if your life was burning out
Throbbing hits your veins, you didn’t get rusty yet

Even if this body will wither and disappear, the dew will carry on the remaining scent

What are you fluttering about in full glory?
What are you thinking about in full glory?
What do you want blooming like that?****
Life of the “flower of love” who frequently changes places, so fleeting that sun can shine through it
Ah, shout until you’ll choke with your own tears
Throbbing hits your veins, you didn’t get rusty yet

* It’s about something flat, but since the whole song is a metaphor and a lot of flower-related words are being used I assume that flat thing are petals (feelings).
** It’s said clearly in scolding tone
*** It’s my guess, since Kiryu are using legends a lot in their lyrics and Oitekibori has two meanings:
1. Oitekibori/Oitekebori is believed to be a ghost from around Sumida-ku in Tokyo, who was forcing fishermen to leave behind/give back (to the river) fishes they caught. Oitekibori was calling “置いていけ” (oiteike - “leave it and begone”) after fishermen, that’s why it was called Oitekebori.
2. In modern language it means simply “to leave behind”

**** It’s a wordplay in which by putting “to, yo, ni” they change the meaning and tone of the sentence, quite hard to catch in translation

己龍 - 彩

Lyrics: Sakai Mitsuki
Music: Kujo Takemasa
Transcription & translation: Ariane
Note: I have no idea, what is the hidden meaning. Faceless person rang a Noppera-bou bell in my head but it has nothing to do with Jugoya. There are couple of stories that match the topic, but since they are not legends it's hard to say if they're are true and/or they are the case of this lyrics. One of them is that people believe that on Jugoya spirits are coming out from trees in parks, second one is that during Jugoya you can meet a ghost of a small girl or man with no shadow, and the third one is the story about ghost in the water mirror (but it doesn't really match). However I doubt any of these match.

Let the flowers bloom on dead trees and colour the charming Jugoya*
Forgetting about the present, worthless things dance around

A little child sang

“Let’s play”

You’ll once again wait in vain under the shrine’s archway

Even if you clap your hands, only emptiness will answer you**
Even if you call his name, only quiet calmness responds**
Amusement is at the mercy of the night
If you invite the buzz of bugs

Let the flowers bloom on dead trees and colour the charming Jugoya
Dance around and forget about the present
When the end of this dream will come, solitude life will begin***
Burnt down white it disappeared in the east sky

The one, who points at your back laughing
Little child played hide-and-seek with faceless people many times

“Let’s play”

One
Two
Three
Four

Haven’t found yet

East sky burns in red inflamed

When you got bored of chasing red dragonflies…

“Can you come out yet?”****

Let the flowers bloom on dead trees and colour the charming Jugoya
Dance around and forget about the present
When the end of this dream will come, solitude life will begin***
Burned down white it disappeared in the east sky

The dust flying off

* Jugoya is Japanese festival of the full moon, taking place from the middle of September to the middle of October (each year the day of full-moon differs), during which people pray and thank for rich crops, for good outcomes of their problems and have spiritual connection with ancestors.
** Nothing special about this one, but I’ve seen some over-interpretations floating around
*** In kanji written as “koma-shi”, which refers to “曲独楽師” kyokugoma-shi, who was a spinning-trick master performer

**** Literally, written part means “is it enough?”, “are you done?”, but in this particular example it should be translated like this. Another way of translating could be “Is it yet?” if asking hiding person if he/she’s ready

己龍 - 泡沫

Lyrics: Ishiki Hiyori & Tokai Junji
Music: Sakai Mitsuki
Transcription & translation: Ariane
Kanji: hiphop vomit
Note: Please, read all the notes at the end. I really tried hard to find any cultural reference, but I have no clue if this lyric is based on any folklore story.

ENGLISH *:--☆--:*:--☆:*:--☆--:*:--☆-:

Sneaking a look at desires becomes innocent delusions; ominous, shading sleeves of white silk (1)

Not becoming one with moonlight’s evil passions flowers bloom (2)
Moths dance entwined, playing in the sea of moment (3)
Come here as darkness of our plays piles up
Fluttering in disarray, swaying beautifully during waning (4)

Eternal youth; if you lick it, its petals will open for you as a banquet inviting to paradise
When dusk comes lantern plants will come to life as a smile of pleasure, beautiful make-up (5)

The love which starts in the middle of the night (6)
Gets made at a snakeheads’ dance (7)
If you misunderstand it with salty scent
You’ll get in the midst of devilishness
Enjoy the temptations of Waning Moon and treasures (8)
Fall into the trap of the Old Lady
Into the joy and pleasure which already left this world

Caught between dream and reality

Behind the gate (9) waits only deadly morning dew; ephemeral dreams change like in kaleidoscope
Immature delusions are like blue reminiscences, song of Gentiana flows (10)

Ah…

Unexpected meeting - this is an ideal invitation, Sir
Just like many years didn’t pass at all, you pass away

Bodies - blend of ruined minds; Karma - flirt with fantasies
Irrational, asexual mist, devilish love, becoming a foam, endless longing and falling apart

Life, falling apart until that day

Behind the gate waits only deadly morning dew; ephemeral dreams change like in kaleidoscope
Immature delusions are like blue reminiscences, song of Gentiana flows
Beloved flower, autumn’s haze already came, dreams…reality… just rattling scales … (11)

NOTES:
(1) This one I’ve translated right from kanji, but sung part can be understood also as “doubtful (abt. love), ephemeral”
(2) This one is quite suspicious, since 華々 doesn’t really appear in this form alone… as an adjective it means “magnificent” and it’s normally read as “hanabana”, however sung word “kaka” may refer to ‘laughter’.
(3) As for me it should be simply “Living the moment”, since “sea” sounds only like a metaphor for something surrounding them. But I’ve translated it for fans not to lose the original shape.
(4) The word itself means “the most beautiful of kind”, can be used in examples: “it’s a time of the day, when landscape is the most beautiful”, “season in which apples are the most beautiful has begun”, etc..
(5) I decided to translate 鬼灯 as lantern plant since this way it makes more sense for readers than ‘ground cherry’. Chinese lantern plant is strictly connected to Obon (Japanese All Saint’s Day), since it is believed that decorating the altar with this plant will help to lead spirit through its way to the other world.
(6) Easily said. There are two theories for which hour should be called middle of the night - from 2am to 2:30am, or from 3am to 3:30am.
(7) Snakehead is a fish able to move and live on land.
(8) The word used may refer both to waning moon (so called Crescent) and beautiful woman. Both words are used alternately in this song, that’s the catch.
(9) The word refers mostly to bamboo fence, but before it had been used also as a word describing lattice gate in between entry and show room in red-lights district.
(10) In language of flowers blue Gentiana means “loveliness” or “I love you the most when you’re sad”. I also translated “aoki” as “blue” in reference to Gentiana.

(11) It may be an overdo, but since the whole song refers to the sea, the word used here is “fish scales”, but reading “rinrin” may suggest ‘rattle’ or ‘bitter cold’. It’s hard to say, which one it really is tho.

己龍 - 百鬼夜行

Music & lyrics: Sakai Mitsuki
Kanji: hiphop vomit
Transcription & translation: Ariane
Note: The song is actually more simple than I thought. There are surprisingly no traps this time.

KANJI *:--☆--:*:--☆:*:--☆--:*:--☆-:

Patching, working out their true nature, with false smiles they array (1)
Writhing in pain, chopped off speaking-the-truth tongues are like lizard’s tails

Tight shackles of life, swaying back and forth torch (2)
Death in darkness is drifting in the night (3) you will only lose your fellow travelers

(Coming) Endlessly one after another

Bugs are creeping into my head

(Coming) Endlessly one after another

Crawling wandering bites scratching nails

What do they chase? What do they look for? What do they cling to?
Not seeing, not knowing the answers Night Parade of One Hundred Demons keeps moving forward
Heart starts wailing at those noisy musicians
They rip up lying throats and that’s what becomes the voice of truth

Will they struggle not to drown in the darkness and die? Or will they spread the dark, paw the ground and die?

Trembles with fear at the lies stroking the darkness, therefore the light is loafing
It burns, melts the life, dies in a lie

(Coming) Endlessly one after another

Bugs are creeping into my head

(Coming) Endlessly one after another

Laid worm eggs drip thick with goo

Consciousness slip through, stained and put down with the sludge of conspiracy
Night Parade of One Hundred Demons keeps moving forward led by merciless hands
At the sounds of those noisy musicians world loses its confidence
With your ears blocked you cannot look back; moving forward, going back home, both options are scary scary (4)

Lies you licked all over are like nectar; not aware you keep spitting them over and over

Nearby… one of the disguises fell and behind it thousands of deceits rose

Will they struggle not to drown in the darkness and die? Or will they spread the dark, paw the ground and die?
Night wind sweeps away swaying lanterns, incoherent footprints of your own life

(1) This comes from Japanese 右へ習う, which simply means array (often used in reference to military troops or sports) or following person at one’s right hand. Why right? It’s a cultural thing and Japanese don’t really know why themselves.
(2) In Japanese culture torch/light/lamp is very often used as metaphor for “life”.
(3) Originally “藻屑” means sinking of the ship or death in sea, but here “sea” has been replaced by “darkness”. Due to the story one, who saw the Parade died together with his relatives.

(4) May refer to Japanese children’s song 通りゃんせ (Tooryanse). Person familiar with those songs will hear that the base of Kiryu’s song is actually very similar to it.

'Occasional poem of moon reflected by water surface'

Bordering is gloomy, consciousness casual, I let go of your hand
With folded palms you remember me and rain in color of your tears flows...

Viaticum is chopped parts of myself
The pain, which I leave here

Until my life comes to an end I’ll dream...
So let's sing
The scream...
Hearts are torn choking with tears, while crying words
Farewell weather is stained with faintness
Let's wave our hands with smiles
Hollow fading, dormant consciousness
Transparent dawn

I don't know this "thing" scorching and smoldering me even now...
I'll just walk...
Follow the path of my dreams...

I keep receiving grief, despair and pain which suppress my voice

Because I'm afraid of silence, which entwines me and calls on

Until my life comes to an end I’ll dream...
So let's sing
The scream...
Hearts are torn choking with tears, while crying words
Farewell weather is stained with faintness
Let's wave our hands with smiles
Hollow fading, dormant consciousness
Transparent dawn

'Okazjonalny poemat o księżycu odbitym w tafli wody'

Otoczenie ponure, świadomość poważna, puszczam Twoją dłoń
Ze złożonymi do modlitwy rękami wspominasz mnie a deszcz koloru Twoich łez płynie...

Wiatykiem są pocięte kawałki samego mnie
Są bólem, który po sobie tu zostawiam

Do końca życia będę marzył...
Więc śpiewajmy
Krzyk...

Do końca życia będę marzył...

Self-satisfaction and Depression

It would be already several days passed since then... My mind can no longer keep that state
Rattling... blowing around red wind’s sound is handcuffs, which actually bind only me

Before many days since then will pass,
I want absolute* this feeling gnaws my heart
Is rattling... blowing around wind's sound also a faraway dream...? Or is it a slumber of consciousness...?

Condition unsightly, cruelty of an approaching evening
If to peek deep into me, unfairness meets the eyes

Blooming, blooming, blooming in profusion, falling is a self-satisfaction of flowers
Showed up in charm the flowers of futility, the box of dazzling darkness
Withering, withering, rotting in bloom is the depression of flowers
Flowers of futility, which will never bloom and never be forgotten

Drowning...
Rising to the surface...
Moment...
Burst open...
Completely disappearing...
This kind of me...

(like a) Bubble on the surface

Spinning round and round... Rattling...
The sound of red wind invites, the sixteen-day-old moon now bids farewell

Condition unsightly, cruelty of an approaching evening
If to peek deep into me, unfairness meets the eyes

Blooming, blooming, blooming in profusion, falling is a self-satisfaction of flowers
Showed up in charm the flowers of futility, the box of dazzling darkness
Withering, withering, rotting in bloom is the depression of flowers
Flowers of futility, which will never bloom and never be forgotten

* In this part inflectional endings are written in katakana and by skipping them, we're getting "zetsubou" meaning "despair".

Samozadowolenie i Depresja

Ukazane we wdzięku kwiaty daremności, pudełko oślepiającej ciemności
Więdnięcie, więdnięcie, gnicie w rozkwicie to depresja kwiatów kwiaty

Lyrics: 酒井参輝
Music: 酒井参輝
Kanji: HipHopVomit
Translation: Ariane
Based on Taketori Monogatari
Special thanks to Mumei

KANJI *:--☆--:*:--☆:*:--☆--:*:--☆--:

Your outstretched hands won't reach the depths of my heart
「For my sake・・・」「For my sake・・・」, in these lies I expose my selfishness*

Telling the truth fake love scatters ephemeral, friable ash
When I look up at that place, at this Moon full of nothingness, which shine with faint light

Believing means to experience the despair...
Not believing means to stain with loneliness...

Hostile pressure surrounding me from each side is ended by salvation

When I was told to come back to the Moon, I saw glimpses of your feelings
I really didn't need anyone, so I couldn't let anyone tell me a simple "Goodbye"

Believing means to experience the despair...
Not believing means to stain with loneliness...

In darkness of the room, with wounds on my fingertips, which brilliance matches the wounds in my heart,
Why do I feel the pain of wounds in the heart so badly, if I don't know the meaning of pain?

When I was told to come back to the Moon, I saw glimpses of your feelings
I really didn't need anyone, so I couldn't let anyone tell me a simple "Goodbye"

Still I want to believe that deception also contains the fullness of kindness
I carry the meaning of exactly what I am; (the meaning of) born in bloom, coming to death revolving lantern

* 固め己の欲 (katame onore no yoku) → (exact.) the desire to protect one's self

POLSKI *:--☆--:*:--☆:*:--☆--:*:--☆--:

Wasze wyciągnięte dłonie nie dosięgną głębi mego serca
Dla mnie・・・」「Dla mnie・・・」 , w tych kłamstwach odkrywam swój egoizm*

Opowiadająca prawdę udawana miłość rozwiewa kruchy, ulotny popiół
Gdy spoglądam w to miejsce, na świecący mdłym światłem Księżyc pełen nicości

Wierzyć to zaznać rozpaczy...
Nie wierzyć to zabarwić samotnością...

Wrogą presję ze wszystkich stron zakończy zbawienie

Gdy powiedziano mi, bym wracała na Księżyc, ujrzałam przebłyski waszych uczuć
Nie potrzebując naprawdę nikogo, nie mogłam pozwolić, by ktokolwiek powiedział mi proste "Do widzenia"

Wierzyć to zaznać rozpaczy...

* 固め己の欲 (katame onore no yoku) (dosł.) pragnienie ochrony samej siebie
** 散り死 myślę, że najlepszym odpowiednikiem tego słowa, biorąc pod uwagę "latarnię" będzie "wygasać"
